At AVID Planning, we use a unique process that focuses on your ability to clearly define your top priorities and true aspirations. Throughout 5 sessions together, we will explore and help you THINK about many aspects of your life to gain clarity on what is most important. This will be the foundation of your financial plan and the start of building True Wealth.

What to Expect
From Our Five Session Program

Explore

During a complimentary discovery meeting, we’ll gain insights on your current financial satisfaction and future transitions. You will get to know us and exactly what a relationship looks like and what it costs. In this first session, you’ll experience a sample of our True Wealth Process.

Engage

We’ll continue by establishing a starting point, from your perspective, by clarifying your priorities and your most pressing needs. Our Wheel of Life exercise will help us get to know you deeper and gather necessary information.

Envision

Next, we will define your “point B”, a vision for your ideal life that will guide your decisions throughout the financial process. In our interactive mind-mapping exercise, we will begin to narrow down what’s most important to you and shape the direction of your plan.

Enlighten

At this time, we will summarize your values and desires while keeping in mind high priority items. We’ll work through possible action items, why they are being recommended and who is responsible for getting them done.

Empower

Lastly, we’ll develop an implementation plan for your goals and aspirations as they align with your entire financial picture and lifestyle as described to us throughout our session. We will provide you with means to move forward on your own or in collaboration with AVID.

Your core values, preferences and vision for your future become the basis for our analysis and planning. Ultimately, we will provide you with:

  • Summary of your key values as we understand it.

After our final meeting, you will receive all of the items listed above, including any revisions and completed exercises. Next we move to the PLAN stage of True Wealth.

Tell me about your education and how long you have been in your field?

I am a proud alum of the University of Akron, ‘99 – Go Zips!, and started in the financial services industry in 2000. I have been working with clients since 2007.

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally, I love connecting with people on a deep level. Being a financial life planner allows me to truly understand my clients core values and their deepest aspirations. It’s not by chance that the True Wealth Process encourages such a relationship.

Personally, I’m trying to be the best husband and father possible. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful relationship with my wife and our children. I just want to raise them to be the best humans they possibly can be - judging no one, accepting others for who they are, and loving life no matter what happens. No pressure!

Outside! I enjoy my yard and taking care of it. I will try to grill anything you give me on my old school, charcoal smoker and love being creative with projects too. (It’s no coincidence I am the Chief Compliance Officer at AVID)

Outside of your amazing co-workers, who do you spend your time with?

I love spending time with my wife, Melissa (we met in Sturgis 2007), and our children, Clayton (6) and Lucilia (4). They too love the outdoors, and we often find ourselves at the beach, a brewery, kayaking, playing soccer (COYR!), or anywhere the sunshine will hit us!

Who is the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT)? LeBron or Jordan?

Despite being born in the birthplace of LeBron James and watching him develop into an amazing player, I vote Jordan. I idolized him as a young b-ball player and will never forget “The Shot” where he defeated the Cleveland Cavs with a buzzer beater at the foul line.

Tell me about your education and how long you have been in your field?

Local Florida fans always love to hear that I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2000. Of course, our Vol football team isn’t as competitive as we used to be, so the local Florida fans generally love me. I have been in Financial Services since 1999, but started advising and planning with clients in 2009. I earned the CFP designation in 2016 and consider education to be never-ending.

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally, I get chills when clients recognize and realize the changes they have made. That’s my favorite part. The actual progress made is great, but the client’s reaction to the progress made is always the best. 

Personally, I have a tough time staying away from a sports field or court of some type. I love dogs and am happiest being around one. Traveling is a must.

Tell me about your education and how long you have been in your field?

I graduated from Florida State University in 2003 with a B.S. in Economics, and have been in the investment/financial advising field since the beginning of my career. 


What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally, I am most passionate about helping people design a financial life that allows them to achieve and do the things that are most important to them. Many times it’s hard for people to even articulate what is most important, or what their values are, and playing a role in helping figure that out is fun too. 


Personally, I am most passionate about learning more and getting the most out of my ability, and generally being “less dumb” as time goes on. It will certainly be a life long pursuit, and I don’t know that I will ever squeeze every last bit of what is possible out of myself, or every bit of dumb, but I am committed to trying.

What I am most passionate about professionally is working with clients. I love people and love helping them have the best experience possible. Being AVID's Everything Coordinator allows me to go the extra mile and spend time with each client on a unique level.

What are your qualifications and credentials?

David graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in finance. Kevin graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in psychology and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Jack graduated from Florida State University with a degree in economics and is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™  professional.

What experience do you have?

We each have 10-15 or more years of experience working with clients. Check out more about us here.

The scope of our services ranges from financial life planning to investment management. 

What is your approach to financial planning?

We use a discovery process called True Wealth to help you gain clarity of your priorities and aspirations. We’ll then collaborate with you to create a tailored implementation plan.

Will you be the only advisor working with me?

AVID uses a team approach to working with clients. You will have a lead advisor, as well as a support advisor and our Everything Coordinator, Madia, to assist you. 

How will I pay for your services?

We charge an initial fee for our True Wealth service, which can be paid by eCheck, credit or debit card. Investment management fees are charged at the household level, quarterly and in advance.

Do others stand to gain from the financial advice you offer?

We are not paid by anyone other than our clients. We do have relationships with other trusted professionals, but there is no compensation exchanged other than the occasional discount on services for our clients. 

I don’t have a lot of money to invest. Can you still help me?

Yes! We specialize in working with successful Gen X and Gen Y professionals to build long-term wealth.
